the tomatoes aren’t done yet!

In this neck of the woods, it got down right CHILLY last night. So chilly that I went out and picked all my tomatoes before the frost came down. A few of them were ripe, but many of them were as green as green could be. There’s lots of recipes out there for green tomatoes, but if you’re like me, you’d rather see your green tomatoes ripen. So here’s a little trick I learned from my beloved to help them ripen. Take all the unblemished green ones (no splits, no spots) and wrap each one in newspaper. Place them in a box in a cool, dark corner of your house. Check them every few days over the next couple of weeks. Each time you check, you’re likely to find a few ripe red tomatoes waiting for you.
